Fundraising Friday: Recent Highlights

At Ardgowan Hospice, we are continuously inspired and uplifted by the incredible support we receive from our local community. Their efforts, creativity, and generosity help us provide vital care and services to those in need. On this Fundraising Friday, we want to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past few weeks by showcasing the power of community spirit by highlighting just some of the fundraising efforts in Inverclyde.

Greenock & District Bowling Association

Greenock & District Bowling Association gathered players together to take part in the Ardgowan Hospice Cup. The week before the tournament, individual clubs collected donations for the hospice, ready to be passed on after the competition ended. The friendly competition raised £1,300 thanks to the generosity of bowlers across Inverclyde.

West College Scotland

A group of students on the West College Scotland’s Certificate for Work Readiness course were challenged to create a product for an Apprentice-style event. They sold hot chocolate cones and spooky sweet cones at the event, raising £110 for Ardgowan Hospice in the process.

Fiona and Her Team’s Loch Lomond Relay Swim

Fiona and her dedicated team took on the challenge of a Loch Lomond relay swim, braving the chilly waters to raise an astounding £7,000 for the hospice. Their determination and team spirit are truly inspiring, and their contribution will make a significant difference in the lives of those we support.

Liz Mackenzie’s 60th Birthday and 10 Years in Remission

Celebrating a milestone birthday and a decade in remission, Liz Mackenzie turned her 60th birthday into a fundraising event for Ardgowan Hospice. Through her efforts, she raised an incredible £2,815. Liz’s story is one of hope and resilience, and we are deeply appreciative of her generosity in choosing to support the hospice.

Ryan McColl’s Glencoe Challenge

Ryan McColl tackled the rugged terrain of Glencoe and raised £1,020 for Ardgowan Hospice. Ryan’s determination and grit on this challenging course are truly admirable, and we thank him for his fantastic fundraising effort.

Dr Joyce Cameron’s Kilimanjaro Conquest

Dr Joyce Cameron embarked on an epic journey to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, raising £2,452.47 for Ardgowan Hospice. While she didn’t quite reach the summit, her friend did, and Joyce’s incredible achievement and the funds she raised will go a long way in supporting our services.

St Andrews BC Sports Dinner

Earlier this year, St Andrews BC hosted a memorable Sports Dinner to honour John and Margaret Kennedy for their 30 years of dedication to the club. As part of their celebration, they generously donated £250 to Ardgowan Hospice. We are incredibly grateful for their kindness and commitment to both their club and our cause.
