Hoof It For The Hospice

Join us in the beautiful, historic surroundings of Ardgowan Estate for a 3K sponsored walk in aid of Ardgowan Hospice!

Enjoy a fun warm up before setting off along the Hoof It trail. Take in the fresh air and sights of the 10,000 acre coastal Estate; you may recognise various locations from the many television and movie projects that have been filmed in the grounds!

“Over the course of 800 years, Ardgowan Estate has evolved from a solitary watchtower to a modern Country Estate. There have been battles and witch hunts, Napoleonic adventures and Wartime bombings. Encounters with Robert the Bruce, Napoleon and Florence Nightingale are woven into the Estate’s colourful history.”

Add to the fun by taking part in a treasure hunt kindly organised by our friends at Ardgowan Estate while you wander in their historic grounds. The Grand Prize of the treasure hunt is a beautiful replica of the original key Charles Rennie Mackintosh key that opened Glasgow School of Art in 1899!

From the Greenock Telegraph:

“Sir Ludo said: “Some months ago we acquired the Rennie Mackintosh key with a view to giving a replica to each couple married at Ardgowan, as a memento of their big day.”

Poignantly, this is now appears to be one of the last artefacts left of the original GSA.

“As a gesture of support for the hospice we’d like to kick-start this initiative by donating the first replica to the hospice treasure hunt.”

Walkers will receive finisher medals and will have the opportunity to enjoy post walk entertainment featuring musical guests, facepainting, food and drink (including rolls kindly supplied by Aulds) and more.

Whether you’re flying solo, walking with friends, colleagues or all of the family, this is a perfect way to spend an Autumn afternoon. Grab hold of a ticket and get ready to Hoof it for the Hospice this September!
