At Ardgowan Hospice, we appreciate that living with a life-limiting illness or being a carer can be difficult, isolating and confusing.

‏‏‎ ‎
MYLife is an exciting programme that offers a calendar filled to the brim with a huge range of activities, events and sessions designed to get you moving, get you thinking and expose you to new things. It gives you the opportunity to forge friendships, create a community, feel healthier, exercise your brain and give you something to look forward to.

‏‏‎ ‎
“Joining MYLife and meeting up with new people who have came through similar experience’s has stopped me feeling isolated. I barely left my house for two years before joining mylife”

‏‏ ‎

‎If you live in Inverclyde, are aged 18 or over and have a life-limiting illness (or you’re a carer), you can sign up for a free membership today! MYLife is not a support service, so you don’t need a referral from your GP to sign up. To join our community you just need to visit mylife.org.uk.

You can also give us a call on 01475 726830 and ask to speak to Lynsey Young, or email lynsey@ardgowanhospice.org

“I’m doing things I haven’t tried in ages and I’m now open to trying new things, even things I wouldn’t have considered before. Thanks for putting a smile on my face.”

Who is MYLife for?

MYLife welcomes anyone over 18 diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, anyone who has experienced a recent bereavement or anyone who is a carer.

Costs?

It’s free to sign up to become a MYLife member!

It’s important to us to keep things affordable and accessible, especially at a time when we’re all tightening the belt a little.

With that in mind, we ensure that at least 1/3 of the events in the calendar will be free to our members.

1/3 of the the events will be under £10.

And the final 1/3 of activities may be over £10. These tend to be special trips like the theatre in Glasgow and more. These are often discounted rates, kindly offered by business and organisations to MYLife.

In person or online/all abilities

With a wide range of events, MYLife offers a little something for everyone. We want to be inclusive of everyone, so we make sure to have a wide range of options that range from sitting and chatting to taking part in tai chi or chair exercises.

You can join us in person at our base in Ardgowan Hospice’s ACCESS building for events like our weekly Soup Club, Women’s and Men’s groups, baking lessons and more. Or you may wish to get involved in a quiz night from the comfort of your living room via Zoom. Feeling energetic? Why not sign up to World Walking and walk with a team or pop in your headphones, put on a podcast and walk solo.

Pick and Choose

There’s no minimum or maximum attendance at MYLife. If an event isn’t for you or you’re not feeling up to it, don’t worry! Or if you want to sample a taste of everything, you’re very welcome to sign up for as many events as you like.

That all sounds great, but what exactly is in the calendar?

The calendar is ever changing and ever evolving, no two months are the same. However, here’s a sample of our weekly and one off events our MYLife family has enjoyed this year.

I have a skill/business/idea for a MYLife event

We want to offer our members the world. This means we need the skills, talents and passion of our community. If you have a hobby or interest you think could interest our members, or you have a business or group you think would suit a MYLife session, please get in touch.

We want the MYLife calendar to have activities from A-Z, so if you can help us offer everything from Archery to Ziplining (within reason!), contact lynsey@ardgowanhospice.org, or call 01475 726830.
