Living with a life-limiting or life-shortening illness can also bring some difficult practical challenges. That’s why the team here at the hospice are here to help.

We can offer advice and practical assistance, or even signpost where you can get additional practical support on matters such as:
– access to financial and welfare rights including benefits you or your family may be entitled to
– employment issues
– housing benefit
– assessment and future care planning
– legal support to help you put your affairs in order to make things easier for your loved ones
– advocacy services
– equipment and possible adaptations to enable you to return home safely

Another area of practical support we offer is our free patient transport service.

We know that travelling to and from hospital appointments can put both a financial and practical pressure on you and your family, not to mention the additional stress you may experience trying to negotiate public transport or parking.

So if you don’t have your own transport available, or cannot rely on lifts from family or friends, our excellent team of volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to provide transport to and from the hospitals in the Greater Glasgow area. We can also collect you to bring you to the hospice for day support or appointments.
