Volunteering whether it’s for a day or years is a commitment and it’s natural to have questions. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive.

My company encourages me to volunteer. Can I help?

There are many ways you can volunteer, either as an individual or as a team. Give our Volunteer Coordinator a call and we’ll talk through some options that suit both you and your company.

We’ve enjoyed the support of many local & national businesses, with employees helping clean, paint, sort stock and more. We’re sure we can find the right role for you and your team.

Will I receive any training?

As a volunteer at Ardgowan Hospice you will receive training which will help you understand how we work giving you a broader knowledge of what we do. You will also receive any specific training you require to do your role.

What age do I have to be to volunteer?

You have to be 16+ to volunteer. Drivers must be 21+

How many people volunteer with Ardgowan Hospice

We have over 300 fantastic volunteers at Ardgowan Hospice. However we’re always looking for new people to join our team!

How does the application process work?

For the majority of roles within Ardgowan Hospice you will be required to attend an informal interview, provide details of two referees and in some roles undergo a Disclosure Scotland (PVG) check. Candidates being considered for roles involving patient access must complete a Criminal Convictions Declaration Form (self-disclosure form).

Who can volunteer for Ardgowan Hospice

We look for volunteers from all backgrounds and ethnicities, male and female and all ages over 16 years old. Experience is not always necessary.

In particular we are looking for volunteers with personality and great communication skills, more specific attributes will be shown as part of the opportunity.
