At Ardgowan Hospice we love our friendly, dedicated volunteer team – volunteers are involved across the hospice, from helping within our In-Patient Unit and Access buildings to assisting in our hospice charity shops and fundraising in Inverclyde. Without their incredible support, we wouldn’t be able to provide all the services our patients and families need.

Ardgowan Hospice relies on the support of a volunteer team of over 300 dedicated individuals. They play a hugely important role within the Hospice and Inverclyde. They help patients get to and from hospital appointments. They serve you in Ardgowan Hospice shops in Greenock, Gourock, Port Glasgow and Kilmacolm. They’re often the first point of contact for people when they visit or call the hospice for the first time. Volunteers help us in so many ways each and every day.

We are hugely grateful to each volunteer and can’t overemphasise the value of their gifts of time and experience.

You may think hospices are sad places to be in which couldn’t be further from the truth. It can be a humbling and inspiring experience to volunteer at a hospice, with the opportunity to meet and support people from all walks of life who have many a story to share.

Each volunteer brings a unique voice and skill set to their role.Volunteers are involved in a range of areas and roles can include receptionists or gardeners, complementary therapists or retail assistants, catering assistants, drivers or fundraising team support members.

Volunteering not only helps Ardgowan Hospice and the people it treats but it can enhance your life and personal development. It provides an opportunity to meet people and make new friends, you might learn some new skills too.
