Fundraising Friday

At Ardgowan Hospice, we are continuously inspired and uplifted by the incredible fundraising support we receive from our local community. Their efforts, creativity, and generosity help us provide vital care and services to those in need.

On this Fundraising Friday, we want to thank everyone who has supported us recently by showcasing the power of community spirit by highlighting some of the fundraising efforts in Inverclyde:

A group of four people standing on a golf course, holding a large cheque made out to Ardgowan Hospice for £1,820. The background features rolling green hills and a cloudy sky.

On July 1st, members of Whinhill Golf Club took to the green to compete for the Jimmy Lang Trophy. Despite the not-so-great weather, 48 teams participated in the tournament, raising a fantastic sum of £1,820.

Four people stand outside "The Barber Shop" in Port Glasgow. Two men on the left hold barber tools, while two women on the right wear purple Ardgowan Hospice hoodies. One of the women holds a donation bucket labeled "Ardgowan Hospice – Thank you for your support." All are smiling in support of the hospice.

In June, Bryan Campbell opened his new business, Campbells of Port Glasgow The Barber Shop, on Princes Street in Port Glasgow. Upon opening, Bryan pledged to donate £5,000 a year to Ardgowan Hospice. Since opening, he has raised a fantastic sum of £800 thanks to his charity cut initiative.

A group of children in school uniforms and aprons are gathered around tables filled with baked goods and treats in a decorated classroom. They are smiling and posing for the photo, with a person dressed as a large teddy bear mascot Ace standing behind them. The classroom is decorated with colourful balloons and hanging paper decorations, suggesting a celebration or special event.

Port Glasgow’s St Francis Primary School’s P6 class hosted a cake and candy stall for the whole school in aid of Ardgowan Hospice. They raised a fantastic sum of £300 and to thank them for their efforts, we arranged a surprise visit from Ace – who also enjoyed the cakes!

A group of nine women, including two healthcare workers in scrubs, holding a large ceremonial check for £300 made out to Ardgowan Hospice Community Hub. The women are smiling and standing indoors, with a bulletin board and wooden furniture visible in the background.

A huge thank you to some of our MYlife members who have raised £300 from their Monday bingo sessions. The group were delighted to donate the money towards our specialist community team. To find out more about MYlife services or to join the weekly Monday bingo, please visit the mylife.org.uk

A large group of cyclists pose and celebrate outdoors near a fountain and palm trees. Many wear bright cycling gear and helmets. Several people hold "Ardgowan Hospice" flags, and a tall hospice-branded banner is visible. The group appears cheerful, raising arms in triumph, likely after completing a charity ride.

We are delighted to announce that our first-ever Five Ferry Challenge raised £6,540! A huge congratulations and thank you to everyone who completed 52 miles of cycling in aid of the Hospice.

A smiling woman stands outside a building with a sign reading "ACCESS at Ardgowan." She is wearing a purple "Ardgowan Hospice" T-shirt and holding a sign with the Ardgowan Hospice logo, which features a purple daisy and green and blue text. The weather appears sunny, and an old stone building is visible in the background.

Moira and her nephew Aaron walked over 156 miles on the Hebridean Way, crossing 10 islands, 6 causeways, all in memory of the much loved Michael who passed away in July of 2023. The duo raised an incredible sum of £4,788 for the hospice in his memory.

The ‘Zest for Zoe Ladies Day‘ was run in honor of local woman Zoe Williams, who has been battling Non-Hodgkins Lmphoma cancer. Zoe’s alongside her friends and family, put together a beautiful afternoon to raise funds for multiple organisations close to Zoe’s heart. The event raised an incredible £10,000, with £6000 being donated to Ardgowan Hospice.
