Wellbeing support

We have various services available to look after the wellbeing of our patients and their loved ones.

Wellbeing Support

We provide not only physical and medical support, but also important practical, spiritual, emotional and social support to patients diagnosed with a life limiting illness and their families and carers.

Wellbeing Team

In January 2023, we introduced the Wellbeing Support Worker role. This is new to Ardgowan and seeks to provide a first-contact service for patients and families around death, dying and grief. The Wellbeing Support Worker’s role is to identify the patient’s needs and concerns to support an improvement in their overall wellbeing. We do this by understanding the patient’s strengths and ability with support to find solutions to any issues. The Wellbeing Support worker builds relationships with the patient and their family, highlighting areas vital to them, including physical, emotional, practical, financial, and spiritual wellbeing concerns. The worker will also be able to link the patient or family with other services, both internal and external, to Ardgowan. The Wellbeing Support Worker will support family members/ carers of the patient in this difficult time of an individual’s illness or health deterioration or as a follow-up to the family/carer following the patient’s death. The Wellbeing Support Worker will also identify children and/or grandchildren within the patient’s family that may benefit from additional support. They may provide information or refer to our Children’s worker for specialist support.
