Inverclyde Community Power: Donations Boost Urgent Appeal

Inverclyde Community Power: Two Incredible £30k Donations Boost Our Urgent Appeal

We are absolutely overwhelmed by the incredible show of support for our Urgent Appeal. Today, we are thrilled to share some truly transformative news: two of our local business leaders have stepped forward with massive donations to help protect the future of Ardgowan Hospice.
We have received a staggering £60,000 in combined support from McDonald’s in the Community (representing the Port Glasgow and Greenock restaurants) and Golden Casket.
A Powerful Partnership for Inverclyde
These donations of £30,000 each couldn’t have come at a more critical time. As many of you know, we recently launched our Urgent Appeal to combat rising operational costs and a significant funding shortfall. The goal is simple but vital: to ensure that no family in Inverclyde has to face a life-limiting illness alone.
Alan and Finn Halliday at McDonald’s in the Community have shown incredible dedication to our local area, proving once again that they are a key pillar of support for the health and wellbeing of Inverclyde.
A Message from the Rae Family
Joining them in this mission is Golden Casket, a name synonymous with Inverclyde. Their donation was inspired directly by you—our supporters. Having seen the community rally together to raise the first £30,000 of our appeal, the Rae family decided to match that total pound-for-pound.
Crawford Rae, CEO of Golden Casket, shared his thoughts on why this support is so vital:
“Ardgowan Hospice provides compassionate, specialist care to families during extremely difficult times. Facing rising costs and a significant funding shortfall, the hospice recently launched their Urgent Appeal to protect vital services.
The response from the community has been outstanding, with £30,000 having been raised in a remarkably short period of time. In recognition of the hospice’s essential role within the community, coupled with the strength of the local support, the Rae Family are humbled and proud to match this amount, helping in a small way to safeguard the continued delivery of specialist hospice care.”
A message of thanks from Ardgowan Hospice
Joanna Hunter, Fundraising Manager of Ardgowan Hospice, said:

“We are blown away by the kindness from both the Rae family and the Halliday family. To receive two such substantial donations of £30,000 simultaneously is a massive boost for our Urgent Appeal and a testament to the wonderful community spirit we have here in Inverclyde.

These contributions come at a pivotal moment for Ardgowan Hospice. As we navigate rising costs, the support of local business leaders like Greenock & Port Glasgow McDonald’s and Golden Casket ensures we can continue to provide our specialist care to those who need us most. We are profoundly grateful for their partnership and for their commitment to safeguarding the future of our services.”

The Journey Continues
While these contributions, combined with our earlier anonymous foundation gift, businesses and your individual donations, give us a massive boost, our journey isn’t over. Every penny raised goes directly toward maintaining the specialist palliative care that so many families across Inverclyde rely on.
We want to say a heartfelt thank you to the teams at McDonald’s, the Rae family at Golden Casket, and every single one of you who has donated, shared a post, or told a friend about our appeal.
Together, we are making a difference.
