Fundraising Friday

At Ardgowan Hospice, we are continuously inspired and uplifted by the incredible fundraising support we receive from our local community. Their efforts, creativity, and generosity help us provide vital care and services to those in need.

On this Fundraising Friday, we want to thank all of our enthusiastic fundraisers who have supported us recently, showcasing the power of community spirit, and highlighting some of the fundraising efforts in Inverclyde:

Local business The Wee Crafty Owl ran a raffle for a handmade World Cup-themed jumper, which raised £80.14. The jumper, alongside its winner, Mr Nelson, is headed to America to see Scotland play in the World Cup.

Popular Port Glasgow venue, Ivy Mill hosted a White Party Ladies Day to raise money for Ardgowan Hospice. Their fundraising activities included games and raffles, followed by a sax player and a DJ taking everyone dancing into the night. They raised a fantastic £2044 for vital hospice funds.

Regular supporters Greenock Whinhill Golf Club hosted their rescheduled Jimmy Lang Trophy, which was played on Sunday 28th June, with an excellent turnout. So far this year, they have raised a total of £3561.19 for hospice funds. We are so grateful for their continued support.

Lisa Jean Halliday hosted a Ladies Day at the Regent Club in memory of her cousin Donna Smith and beloved granda Charlie Byrne. The day was a great success, and throughout all fundraising activities on the day, they raised £1,875.

Young fundraisers Imogen, Emilia & Francesca raised £124 for Ardgowan Hospice by making colourful bracelets with loom bands and selling them to passers-by.

Rankin Park Bowling Club held their Yvonne Johnstone Memorial Trophy on the 27th of June, which had a fantastic attendance of over 100 keen bowlers helping to raise over £2000 for Ardgowan Hospice in memory of Yvonne.

Local social media hero, Brian Copeland popped by Ardgowan Hospice to meet our Fundraising Manager, Joanna Hunter to donate 4 tickets for a 2026 sail on the Paddle Steamer Waverley.

The Coyle Family hosted another fundraiser on Saturday 20th June In Memory Of Alex & Roselin Coyle. The evening had a sell-out attendance with a large variety of top raffle prizes, tombola and table raffle which raised a sensational £10,233.

A local group of family and friends took on a SkyDive to remember in memory of their family members; they raised £1000 for Ardgowan Hospice. Danielle said, “I was so grateful for Ardgowan Hospice and my Nana being moved there. The care she received in her last few days was amazing; all staff made sure she was comfortable and were very accommodating for us visiting. The service allowed us as a family to be with my Nana until the very end, which I am forever grateful for. The facilities they have for families and patients couldn’t be done without kind donations.”

Joining Danielle was Kimberly, who said, “After losing my dad to cancer, I wanted to give something back to this incredible charity, so I took part in the Jingle Bell Jog and managed to raise enough money to fund 24 support sessions for a recently bereaved child or young person… Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference and help Ardgowan Hospice continue their amazing work. Thank you so much for your support.”

Terraza Del Clyde festival runners Bruce Glenny and Dylan McFadyen visited the ACCESS centre to hand over a cheque for £1,637 to hospice fundraising manager Joanna Hunter. The money was raised from a portion of ticket booking fees from the festival.
