A Memorable Day: Ardgowan Hospice Patients Tour Celtic Park

At Ardgowan Hospice, we strive to bring joy and meaningful experiences to our patients and their families. Recently, a group of our patients had the incredible opportunity to visit Celtic Park – not for a match, but for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the iconic stadium. It was a day filled with smiles, laughter, and cherished memories.

A Warm Welcome at Paradise

Known as ‘Paradise’ to fans, Celtic Park is steeped in history and holds a special place in the hearts of many across Scotland and beyond. Our patients, some of whom are lifelong Celtic supporters, were thrilled to step into this legendary venue.

From the moment the group arrived, they were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The Celtic Park team ensured everyone felt welcome and comfortable, making it clear that this day was all about celebrating the passion and connection that football fosters.

Exploring the Magic of Celtic Park

The tour took our patients on a journey through the rich history and grandeur of the stadium. Highlights included walking through the players’ tunnel, where countless footballing legends have stepped onto the pitch, and visiting the home team’s dressing room – getting plenty of pictures with some of their idols. For many, standing where their football heroes prepare for match days was an emotional moment.

Our group also explored the trophy room, which showcases Celtic’s impressive history of achievements, including the iconic European Cup. Hearing stories about the club’s successes and seeing the memorabilia up close brought back fond memories for our patients, sparking lively discussions and shared nostalgia.

Creating Lasting Memories

The tour was more than just a chance to see the stadium; it was an experience that brought a sense of excitement to our patients. Football is often a source of lifelong passion, and this visit allowed them to reconnect with a part of their identity that brings immense joy.

For those unable to attend matches or be part of the crowds anymore, this behind-the-scenes glimpse was a unique way to feel connected to the sport and the club they love. The smiles and stories shared during and after the tour were a testament to the power of such experiences.

Gratitude to Celtic Football Club

This unforgettable day wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity and kindness of Celtic Football Club. Their willingness to open their doors and go the extra mile for our patients made all the difference. From arranging the tour to ensuring every detail was handled with care, the club showed what makes them a cornerstone of the community.

A special thanks also goes to Greg Taylor, our patron at Ardgowan Hospice. Greg organised the tour for us and made sure the patients had memories to last a lifetime – he even arranged a special video for when the patients arrived!

A Special Thanks to our Supporters

A heartfelt thank you also goes to Paul and his wife from Better Chauffeur Travel, who generously provided two minibuses and their time free of charge to assist with transportation. Their kindness ensured our patients could travel comfortably and stress-free, making the day possible.

Another big thank you to our tour guide Martin and his team, whose support and warmth made the visit even more memorable – they are a real credit to the club! Their dedication and hospitality truly enhanced the experience for everyone involved, leaving lasting smiles and stories to cherish.
