Festive Fundraising Friday

At Ardgowan Hospice, we are continuously inspired and uplifted by the incredible fundraising support we receive from our local community. Their efforts, creativity, and generosity help us provide vital care and services to those in need.

On this Festive Fundraising Friday, we want to thank everyone who has been taking on Festive Fundraising challenges recently by showcasing the power of community spirit by highlighting some of the fundraising efforts in Inverclyde:

Local Chris Carmichael is taking on the challenge of 12 Cold Dips for Christmas in memory of his mother, Esther. So far, Chris’ fundraiser has raised over £2,600, surpassing his initial £2k target – with money still being donated.

On the 13th of December, Greenock Wanderers Rugby Club took on their annual Santa Dash in aid of Ardgowan Hospice. Their festive run from Lunderson Bay to the Rugby Club saw players and coaches of all ages brave the rain in an effort to fundraise. The final total is still to be counted, but the fantastic sum of £3,860 has been raised so far!

Promedics Orthopaedics, based in Port Glasgow, held their annual Christmas Raffle in aid of Ardgowan Hospice. Their fundraising efforts raised £1,000 for the hospice. We are so grateful for the team’s continued support.

Local woman Eileen Boyle visited us to hand over a cheque for £1000, which was raised from raffling off a Christmas bauble in memory of Isabella Boyle. The bauble, which was bigger than a football, was decorated with branches, smaller baubles, ribbons, flowers and more.

Ardgowan Hospice’s annual Jingle Bingo event was a success once again. Host Edward Reid had everyone up dancing, shouting bingo and celebrating the festive season. The fundraising night raised £2695 for hospice funds.

Madiera Nursery in Greenock raised funds for Ardgowan Hospice on Festive Friday. Nursery staff and children took part by wearing their Christmas jumpers, helping to raise over £100 for the hospice. The day was made even more special by a visit from Ace, who brought lots of smiles and festive cheer to everyone involved.

Julie Grieve took her knitted goods to the RSP Off Grid Sale & Ardgowan Primary School Sale to sell and raise funds for Ardgowan Hospice. She raised a fantastic £335, which has been donated in memory of her father, who was cared for by the nurses on the ward.

A house on Broomberry Drive is being lit up in aid of Ardgowan Hospice in the lead up to Christmas. Leo Currie has kindly decided to raise funds for the hospice by decorating his home with festive lights, helping to spread Christmas cheer. Visit Broomberry Drive in Gourock between 4PM and 10PM every day until the end of December. Look for the QR code to scan, which will let you hear the music and pick your favourite.

Ardgowan Hospice singers have been singing their hearts out at multiple events this Christmas season, including concerts at St Mary’s, St Patrick’s, Cardwell Garden Centre, and the Inverkip, Skelmorlie, and Wemyss Bay Church. Their carolling has helped them to raise over £800 for hospice funds this Christmas.
