Fundraising Friday
At Ardgowan Hospice, we are continuously inspired and uplifted by the incredible fundraising support we receive from our local community. Their efforts, creativity, and generosity help us provide vital care and services to those in need.
On this Fundraising Friday, we want to thank everyone who has supported us recently by showcasing the power of community spirit, highlighting some of the fundraising efforts in Inverclyde:

Mark Nelis held his 15th annual football game in aid of Ardgowan Hospice. Mark’s friend Marc O’Donnell chose the charity in memory of his wife Natasha, who sadly died unexpectedly in June, leaving him and their two children. The event was greatly supported, and they raised an incredible sum of £4007.

John Thomson, the winner of the Telegraph’s search for Inverclyde’s Best Home, has generously donated his winnings from the competition, a £500 John Lewis voucher, in memory of his late wife, Alexandra, 53, who passed away in June 2020.

Rankin Bowling Club held their annual sportsman’s dinner in aid of Ardgowan Hospice, which was a fantastic evening of entertainment, including refereeing legend Willie Young, Morton legend Rowan Alexander, Des Clarke & Mr Gerry McDade. Their successful event raised an amazing £500 – we thank the whole team for their continued support.

Lauren Fox hosted a wildly successful Ladies Day at the Port Glasgow Town Hall in aid of Ardgowan Hospice and MSA Trust. The event was held in memory of Lauren’s aunt, who sadly passed away in the hospice not long ago. The fundraising efforts raised an incredible £3015 for Ardgowan Hospice.

Tommy Reid was the winner of the Greenock Telegraph’s £50 Scoop. The retired Ferguson Marine worker has kindly chosen to donate it to his former colleagues’ biannual cheque presentation to Ardgowan Hospice.

Slimming World with Joe ran their first-ever charity night to celebrate their group being crowned the UK Slimming World group of the year. The evening had an incredible turnout and raised £3200, which was divided evenly between Ardgowan Hospice and Mind Mosaic.

Angela Blyth took on the challenge of running the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run in memory of her dad, Archie McPhail, who passed away almost 5 years ago. Angela’s son and daughter-in-law took on the challenge too to support Angela. Tripling her target of £500, Angela raised a fantastic £1670 for the hospice and “hopes that it can help towards the amazing work that the Hospice does for families like my own”.

Catriona & Joanne took on the task this year of doing the Glasgow Kiltwalk in April, Edinburgh Kiltwalk in September and doing a midnight Ben Nevis walk in August to raise funds for Ardgowan Hospice in memory of my Catriona’s big brother, Tich and her mother in law, Joanne’s mum, Joan who were both looked after by Ardgowan Hospice in their final days. The incredible duo have raised £1,805 and counting with funds still coming into their JustGiving.
