Fundraising Friday: Recent Highlights

At Ardgowan Hospice, we are continuously inspired and uplifted by the incredible support we receive from our local community. Their efforts, creativity, and generosity help us provide vital care and services to those in need. On this Fundraising Friday, we want to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us from May through July by showcasing the power of community spirit by highlighting just some of the fundraising efforts in Inverclyde.

Fantasy Football: Our Fantasy Football League has so far raised £90 thanks to the kind donations of those who joined the league. While you are unable to create a team as the season is underway, those with a team already created can join the league by clicking this link.

Inverclyde Amateurs Football Game: Inverclyde Amateurs organised a brilliant day of football in memory of their former captain and coach, Tommy Boyle. The game was made up of IAFC legends who proved that class is permanent, with the occasion raising a fantastic amount of £400.

Amie McMenamin and Riley Church: Two Greenock youngsters recently held a street party in aid of Ardgowan Hospice. Amie McMenamin, 9, and Riley Church, 11, raised an amazing £800 for the hospice. The event was held at Greenock’s Shankland Grove with many kind donations being made.

Ferguson Marine: Ferguson Marine workers recently raised £2,500 in donations for Ardgowan Hospice. The yard has been donating for over 20 years, with their total number of donations reaching a staggering £60,000.

Scott Nichol: Scott Nichol’s homecoming show raised a staggering amount for the hospice, with the total reaching £1,518.75. The show, which was 10 years since Scott had performed in Greenock, raised these funds to give back after the support shown to Scott’s grandfather.

Gary Ferguson: Gary Ferguson braved sub-zero temperatures during a two-week trek across Mongolia, which saw him scale several mountains in honour of local ferry skipper Matt Ashwood, who died of cancer during the pandemic. Gary braved temperatures as low as minus 15 degrees. as well as scale peaks which were more than 13,000 feet high, while raising a total of £2,232.
