Go Purple Day Launch Success
Our first GO PURPLE day was a great success, with schools, businesses, and the local community all getting involved to raise awareness and vital funds for Ardgowan Hospice.
A message from our Fundraising Manager, Joanna Hunter: “In the 15 years of working at Ardgowan Hospice, this is the most I’ve ever seen the whole community come together all at once to support our work. We want to thank everyone who has taken part. Of course, we wouldn’t have been able to publicise this the way we have without the help of Telegraph. This is something we’re hoping to make an annual event, and we hope to see everyone on Go Purple day 2026!”
Inverclyde turned purple on October 10th, during Hospice Care Week, as our kind supporters joined in the fun with everything from purple-themed shop windows and school come-as-you-please days to zumbathons and themed cocktails. We are delighted to confirm that Inverclyde’s efforts raised £13,334.65!
We want to thank everyone who has supported us recently by showcasing the power of community spirit, highlighting just a few of the fundraising efforts in Inverclyde across the day:

Regular fundraisers at Victoria Bowling Club hosted a full afternoon of fundraising, including games of bingo, a homebaking sale and a raffle. The sold-out afternoon raised £1,120; additionally, Luigi’s chip shop very generously put forward an additional £500 towards our Go Purple efforts. Bringing their total to £1620!!
Club 3000 turned their bingo hall purple, with games and other fundraising activities which raised an incredible £1000 for Ardgowan Hospice.
Bullseye Sports Bar, Greenock, hosted a darts tournament for their regulars alongside raffles and other fundraising activities, which raised just over £1000.

Inverclyde Schools & Nurseries
Schools and nurseries across Inverclyde donned their best purple outfits, purple bakes and danced all day! A great thanks to: Duchal Nursery, Aileymill Nursery, Battery Park Nursery, King’s Oak Primary School, Moorfoot Primary School, Gourock Primary, St Columbas Kilmacolm, St Ninians Primary School, Notre Dame High School, Madeira Nursery & Clydeview Academy. They raised a combined £5227.45.
Local bars, takeaways and restaurants all came together to don purple, run GO PURPLE themed special offers and raise funds. A great thanks to: Luigi’s Greenock Roxburgh Street, The Vault
Clyde Eats, The Cottage, Buckley’s At The Chartroom, Gianni’s, McDonald’s Greenock & Port Glasgow, The Cove, Aulds Gourock, Cafe Continental & Wildfire. They raised a combined £1945.94

Support from Greenock Telegraph
Our Go Purple campaign wouldn’t have been as successful as it was without the support of the Greenock Telegraph. We are grateful for the week of promoting our services and sharing our special patient and family stories. Not only that, we were lucky enough to have our mascot, Ace, feature in that week’s ‘Find Snoop’ competition and have the iconic red Greenock Telegraph header changed to purple. Thank you again to all at NewsQuest, Greenock.

Support from A&M Advertising
Thank you to our local advertising company, A&M Advertising, for helping us promote our appeal on the run-up to Go Purple Day by allowing us complimentary advertising space on their A8 digital advertising board in Greenock. As always, we are impressed with how eye-catching this advertising location is.

On behalf of everyone at Ardgowan Hospice, we’d like to say a heartfelt thank you for taking part and helping make our first GO PURPLE Day so memorable. If you haven’t yet reached out with stories and photos from the day, we’d still love to hear all about your Go Purple Day! Please do keep in touch by emailing us at fundraising@ardgowanhospice.org, or by tagging us on social media. Sharing your efforts helps inspire others and spreads the message even further.
