Volunteer spotlight: Youngster Erin Lamond

Ardgowan Hospice is proud to highlight the incredible fundraising efforts and ongoing volunteer work of Erin Lamond, a dedicated supporter who has shown remarkable generosity and compassion from a young age.
Erin’s fundraising journey with Ardgowan Hospice began when she was just nine years old, following a significant personal health challenge.
After undergoing brain surgery for a persistent medical issue, Erin made the heartfelt decision to shave her hair off to raise funds for Ardgowan Hospice.
In addition, she donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, providing wigs for children who have lost their hair due to illness.

Erin chose to support Ardgowan Hospice in memory of her grandpa, who received care from the hospice during his battle with cancer.
Commenting, Erin said: “Although I have very few memories from that time since I was so young, I know they took very good care of him.
“I wanted to give back while also helping people in a similar situation.”
Her efforts were met with resounding success, as Erin raised an impressive £948 for Ardgowan Hospice. But her commitment did not stop there.
In March of this year, Erin began volunteering at the Wee Bookshop on Kempock Street in Gourock, an initiative run by the hospice. Her contributions at the bookshop have been invaluable, and she has found great joy and fulfilment in her role.
Erin explained: “The hospice means a great deal to me because they took care of my grandpa so well, and they helped the rest of my family through a difficult time.
“Not only have my family benefited from their services, but many others as well.
“I think they do a great job helping so many families in the area. That’s why it’s such a big thing being able to give back, even in a small way, through volunteering.”

Ardgowan Hospice is deeply grateful for Erin’s support and dedication. Her story is a testament to the profound impact that the hospice has on individuals and families in the community. Erin’s fundraising and volunteer work serve as an inspiring example of how one person, regardless of age, can make a significant difference in the lives of others.
