Ardgowan Hospice’s shops & COVID-19

Dear Customers. It is with a heavy heart that we must say a very temporary goodbye (but see you soon!). To protect our customers and volunteers during this pandemic we have closed all of our charity shops with immediate effect. It is not yet clear when we will reopen but relevant announcements will be made here on our website, via local press, and on our social media channels.

Rest assured, we will be back when safe to do so, we certainly hope you will join us again!

Thank you for your support.

Update 2nd July 2020: We’re pleased to announce that our West Stewart Street & Kempock Street shops will reopen on Saturday 4th July. Here’s all you need to know:

  • Both shops will be open 10 – 3 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday
  • The current maximum capacity of West Stewart Street is 3 customers. Kempock Street is 1 customer.
  • Please wear a mask when visiting
  • Please use the hand sanitiser stations when visiting
  • Please treat our amazing volunteers with respect. The rules they enforce have been passed down by our retail team who have taken guidance on how to safely operate our shops. These rules & guidelines reflect that guidance and are for the safety of customers and volunteers alike

See posters below for full information. Please note that details are subject to immediate change. We will update our website, social media, and signage to reflect these changes when made.

Visit one of our charity shops and grab yourself a bargain.  Any purchases you make, or goods you donate will help to pay for vital treatment for patients and their families affected by a life limiting illness.

A full list of our shops is available below.  Donations can be made at any of our stores, or at our warehouse situated at the back of our West Stewart Street shop. Please note, we cannot accept toys or electrical goods.

Fancy learning new skills and making a difference in your local community?

Our shops are always on the lookout for new volunteers to be part of the friendly hospice team. Volunteers are involved in a wide range of roles and day-to-day activities that support the running of each store for two hours or more a week.

On the shop floor you could be involved with providing excellent customer service, processing transactions on the tills, replenishing stock and putting up eye-catching displays to entice customers in.

Behind the scenes, volunteers get involved with store housekeeping and administration, sorting through donations to find those hidden gems and preparing goods for sale by sorting, steaming and pricing items.

So if you’re up for a new challenge, contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator at lynsey.young@ardhosp.co.uk.

Please note that many of our shops are volunteer led!

These driven and fantastic individuals play a vital part in the hospice machine and help provide you with a warm and friendly shopping experience while helping us earn important income from your donations. This means that from time to time, a shop may have to close earlier than advertised due to ill health or a prior commitment in our volunteers lives. It is therefore recommended you give a shop a quick call if you’re heading down later in the day to avoid disappointment
