Supporting You

Through a range of respite and palliative services, Ardgowan Hospice offers medical and wellbeing support to patients, families and carers when dealing with life-limiting illnesses and end-of-life care.

Annually, we care for over 1,000 local people who are impacted by terminal diagnoses including cancers, heart failure, lung disease and neurological conditions (e.g. dementia), as well as their bereaved family members and carers. Our multi-disciplinary team of over 120 staff and more than 200 volunteers works to reduce and manage symptoms; we help people cope constructively with deteriorating health so they can face their journey ahead with clarity and dignity.

Some people have a preference as to where they are cared for, and we will work with you and your family to try to achieve this. We can support you at home, and other places of care, as well as at our in-patient unit in Greenock.

We work closely with your GP and district nurse, and also link closely with other medical and support staff you currently see, to work in partnership with them to provide you with the best all round care.

Where we can support you

We can help to improve your quality of life in a variety of settings – either at home, other places of care, as an outpatient at a clinic or at the hospice day support service.

However sometimes you may need more specialist support from our team and may benefit from an admission to the hospice.
